Dirigible. Zeppelin. Both great words. And so is blimp. I wish I could take a luxury cruise on a dirigible from Germany to Brazil. Wasn’t there a brief spell in history when they use to do that? OK, I could not have afforded a trip like that OR on the Titanic, so I would have had to have worked in the galley to make the trip. I could have sworn that a dozen years ago I heard that someone was going to start up the Munich to Rio route again. Was I just imagining this?
There is this bluff … if you can call it that … overlooking the ocean. One of the trails at Torrey Pines leads down to it. People seem strangely attracted to it, but there is really nothing there except the other people who have been drawn to the way it juts out into the sea a little, and how you have to climb up on it to be there…
I love this photo for a lot of reasons. I wish I could take credit for it, and I wish I knew who did take it to give them credit. This is the Campo Lindo swim team suffering a minor breakdown on the way to a swim tournament. Did I say suffering? Nah! These guys will make lemonade out of lemons wherever they are! Fortunately, this happened in California. I can only imagine what would have happened if they had tried to do this along the roadside somewhere in Texas.
